What is Polygon?

The Polygon Blockchain, previously the Matic network, solves the pain points of the Ethereum blockchain. Points like expensive gas fees and slow block time. Created in 2017 by 3 founders the network was meant to scale up the Ethereum blockchain. Later on, in 2019 they launched the Matic token through an IEO on the Binance launch pad. The network’s main net launched in the middle of 2020. And quickly grew because Ethereum gas fees were on the rise.

Because of its EVM compatibility, many Dapps have already decided to launch on both Ethereum, Polygon. And sometimes other chains too. Those are driving its ecosystem’s further adoption. With Dapps like Quickswap and Aavegotchi driving a lot of traffic.
